Picture it: you’re on vacation, taking a well-deserved rest. But be honest: do you still see your smartphone or laptop in the picture, close at hand?

If you answered yes, you’re not alone: most employed Canadians (62 per cent) say they regularly or at least sometimes check in with the office by email or voicemail when they’re on holidays, according to the 2011 Vacation Deprivation survey conducted online by Harris Interactive on behalf of Expedia.ca. The Carneros Inn
Every Thursday I write about a place I’d love to go.
About 10 years ago, I spent some time in Napa Valley and San Francisco. I loved it, especially the Carneros region.
Today, I got an email from The Carneros Inn in Napa Valley (thecarnerosinn.com), suggesting a “Meet the Vinters” package.

The laid-back southern California ambience makes the Rose Bowl an appealing place for college football, even though the UCLA Bruins haven’t been a top team in years.
The sousaphone player dots the “i” when the Ohio State marching band spells out the word “Ohio” at halftime.
Aggie students, collectively known as the “12th Man,” stand for the entire game at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field.

If you dont have anything against a bit of cold weather, then Finland is probably one of the best places to live in Europe. This Scandinavian wunderkind has large expanses of unspoiled landscape, with scatterings of modern, organized and pretty towns and cities. You can drive for hours and hours in Finland without encountering a single soul or human settlement, but probably not without encountering a lake (which make up about 10% of the country). This is the country of Santa Claus, of saunas and civil rights, and in general, nothing like any other countries in Europe. Here are some of the most amazing travel destinations in Finland, which will hopefully convince you to visit this magical country.
If a trip to cold and icy Lapland sounds like a good holiday idea (and it really is), then you will probably pass through the town of Rovaniemi on your way there.
